About WholeLife

On my other blog, you’ll find my main passions of life: my son, my faith, my family. But I have another passion that went beyond the scope of that blog: food, health, and nutrition. So, here I am, writing another blog.

Although I have always had a mild interest in food (love to cook), health, & nutrition, you could say it became more of an obsession a few years ago when my husband became very ill. He was eventually diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, which led to much research on my part into how our food (and what we do to it) and environment affects our health over the long term.

Much of the time I am a “hypocrite” in this area. Sure, I have convictions about eating whole foods, exercising, etc, but living by those convictions is difficult, and I don’t often succeed. However, I take my foodly (is that a word) responsibilities quite seriously as a wife and mother, so the quest continues. Here, in this blog, you will find entries directly or vaguely related to food, nutrition, health, and striving to live a whole life.

    HI,

I just recently started a blog here on WordPress and I was browsing for blogs like mine and found yours!

One thing that struck me in your profile is that you say are a “hypocrite” whe it comes to eating healthily (is THAT a word?) and I know where you are coming from! I strive to eat well, and exercise consistently but as a busy wife and mother, I get weak and lazy. Therein lies my problem. However, I am “pressing on” and hope to achieve my goal eventually. Taking it one day at a time.

    Healthy Mom

Please don’t beat yourself up over slips and misses. We all have the best intentions to eat and live well, and society continually strives to make us feel monumental guilt over even the tiniest of failures. I often don’t succeed either, but when I don’t, I view it as yet another reason to try better next time. And there is always a next time. As long as you don’t constantly jeopardize your husband’s health and work towards an overall goal of eating right, then you are on the right track.

So let go of the guilt. That is society talking, and the only voice worth listening to is your own.

Your blog looks great, and thanks for having me on your blogroll. I will keep checking back to see how you are coming along!! Visit me often!

thanks for the link. ive gotten a little traffic from it. keep up the posts on food, health, and nutrition. they are passions of mine as well.

  4. Just found your blog today – I like it and I admire your goal to live a whole life. It’s OK to not do it “perfectly” all of the time – whatever that means to you. It’s healthier to accept that you’ll make mistakes or slip up than to seek perfection and beat yourself up over it. Keep up the good work and the posts.
